*Don't be afraid to negotiate prices. If something you love is out of your price range, speak up: Vendors are usually willing to work with you.
*Let pictures do the talking. Most wedding vendors have been in the business for years and have developed a lingo that new brides don't know. The best way to explain to a vendor what kind of cake, floral arrangement, or tent you want is to come armed with plenty of photos culled from magazines and websites.
*Communicate the details. "Weddings can be like a Broadway production with no dress rehearsal," says Liset, who encourages brides to make sure anyone who needs to be somewhere knows when and where they need to be.
*Don't settle. If there's anything you don't love, speak up. If you have a vision of what you want your day to be like, share it. Don't worry about budget or whether something seems impossible.
