DIY Project: Chalkboard Fun

11.23.2010_Reception Chalkboard_TraceyBuyce.jpg

We LOVE chalkboards at weddings. They're a super fun way to communicate with your guests while still looking chic - just make sure the writer has good handwriting!

Materials:

Vintage picture frames, glass intact.

Cleaning supplies

Chalkboard Paint (we like this Rustoleum paint

Chalk (splurge on the "good stuff!")

Steps:

Clean picture frame - for glass, use standard glass cleaner and dry with a microfiber cloth. Wipe down frame with warm soap water.

After glass is fully dry, brush on one layer of Chalkboard paint. Let dry. Repeat until desired thickness is acheived.

Let glass dry for at least 8 hours, then have someone with neat and steady writing chalk your menu, wedding info, or whatever else you may want to write! Decorate reception space, making sure you have something sturdy to prop each frame up against.
