Real Wedding: Dale & Hal
Nantucket, Massachusetts
Cake & Catering: Simply with Style Catering

Hal and Dale both grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana - the land of food, music and love. Dale was returning to New Orleans after his medical training in the East and ran in to Hal in the French Quarter, "It was love at first sight for me" said Hal. They grabbed lunch and couldn't stop chatting until midnight. At that point they knew that they were meant for each other.
During a romantic getaway weekend in San Francisco, Dale took Hal to a cozy vintage restaurant in Nob Hill where they enjoyed champagne. Before their meals had arrived, and after a champagne toast, Dale proposed. After years of being together, Hal said yes. The moment was simple, sweet, and perfect.
They both immediately started to talk about the wedding and where they wanted to have it. They came to the conclusion that Nantucket was the perfect place followed by a honeymoon at Martha's Vineyard. Nantucket was an easy choice for both the grooms. After Hurricane Katrina, Hal and Dale needed a getaway that was beautiful and peaceful and Nantucket was the place. "Nantucket felt familiar even though we had not been there before," said Hal. They both grew up in a historic city with the gulf at their feet enjoying every moment, and Nantucket always brought back sweet memories.
The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Their friends hosted an amazing brunch for Hal and Dale at The Boarding House that happened to be in the historic district of Nantucket. They were much appreciative because it helped the two relax from pre-wedding jitters. During the ceremony Hal accidentally placed the ring on the wrong finger, but the two grooms were caught up in the excitement that they didn't even realize until a guest brought it to their attention. The gardenias at the reception were stunning and made the entire venue smell fabulous, and they reminded Hal and Dale of their family's gardens from the South. The grooms made sure that a little bit of New Orleans came with them so they had classic New Orleans Jazz playing "What a Wonderful World" and "La Vie en Rose" by Louis Armstrong at their reception, "Nantucket may never be quite the same" said Hal.
This wedding was 25 years in the making but well worth the wait. Their family and friends enjoyed every moment of the day and the grooms were told that their guests had never been to a happier wedding, which was such a delight to hear. They both knew this would be a momentous occasion, and it turned out to be the happiest and greatest day of their lives.
