Caitlin and Joseph met while working as lifeguards at their town's pool. Joseph was a year older than Caitlin, who was incredibly shy, and avoided him at all costs. One day they ended up sitting together at the same station for a 45 minute shift. They talked the entire time (while watching the pool of course!) and became friends immediately.

Although Anne Carabillo and Dan Aspell originally met through Match.com, they were ultimately brought together in more ways than one. After making plans for their first date, Anne noticed Dan while riding the subway to work one morning, though she kept to herself, not wanting to spoil their plans by meeting for the first time unexpectedly: “He didn't see me, so I hid my US Weekly and hoped he didn't see that,” she says. After their successful first date, the couple began to see each other regularly and eventually became inseparable.

When Caroline Gagel spotted a package on her doorstep one day, she assumed it was a recent Amazon.com order and opened it without a second thought. Instead of the books she’d been expecting, however, Caroline discovered a leather-bound portfolio with an appraisal for an engagement ring inside. Since she had been dating her boyfriend, Chris Goodchild, for six years and knew that he’d planned a romantic dinner for that upcoming weekend, it didn’t take much effort for Caroline to put the pieces together. What did take effort was keeping her discovery to herself.

Alissa Cohen was frustrated. She’d just gotten the most romantic proposal she could imagine. During the years she had been dating Aaron Mandell, he’d communicated a number of important messages on postcards from Paris. He’d written on one to tell Alissa he loved her for the first time. It’s no surprise that Virginia Wise and Brian Hobin decided to celebrate their wedding by the sea. After all, many of the landmark moments in their relationship occurred right on the beach.

Will Gibbons cannot keep a secret. Julie Fellows knew what was up the minute she checked in with her boyfriend by phone. “What’s up?” she asked. “Nothing! I can’t tell you! I have to go!” a frazzled Will replied. A few days later, and none too subtly, Will insisted on taking Julie shopping for a new outfit to wear to his fraternity’s annual Sweetheart Ball.

Rachel Avan doesn’t like banana bread, but she didn’t confess that fact to David Chmielewski until they had been dating for a number of years.

For Audra Bodenstab and Tripp Boyle, there was no question where they’d celebrate their wedding: Nantucket was the clear choice. They had met at The University of Massachusetts Amherst in the spring of Audra’s sophomore year, when Tripp was visiting his younger sister, Lizzy, who was also a student. Audra and Lizzy were friends, but she had never met Tripp until she ran into him at a party. Without realizing their shared connection, they spotted each other, introduced themselves, and shared a kiss, all in a few magical hours.
